Täkō, Pittsburgh’s fastest growing taqueria, is finally answering the prayers of many in the downtown area by officially opening for lunch.
On Monday, Täkō opened from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in their first venture into the lunchtime business. They also announced that they will continue to keep these lunch hours, running Monday through Friday, for the foreseeable future. The menu is abbreviated from their dinner menu though, but includes many of the fan favorites.
Since opening in 2015, Täkō has experienced a great deal of success with their very creative tacos. Patrons can customize tacos with several different options including wagyu short rib, tempura white fish, fried shishito and even grilled octopus.
Täkō has become known for their Mexican and Asian mixed cuisine. The “Tako” taco, their most famous one, features grilled octopus and harissa aiol; while their “Korean” features wagyu short rib, peanuts and fermented cucumber. They also have an extensive tequila list and a design your own guacamole menu.
Aside from the new lunch hours mentioned previously Täkō, located on 214 6th Street, is also open for dinner seven days a week. Monday-Thursday dinner runs from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday they are open from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. On Sundays they are only open from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
