Wahlburgers restaurant, founded by Executive Chef Paul Wahlberg with brothers Donnie and Mark, is set to open two Pittsburgh locations over the next two years. At least one location is expected to be open by the end of 2017.
Mark Wahlberg, a famous actor and well-known New England Patriots fan, has been integral to the growth of Wahlburgers. And he’s clearly excited to bring his restaurant to western Pennsylvania.
“I’m a big fan of Pittsburgh,” Mark Wahlberg said. “It’s a great city with hardworking people that deserve our best. We look forward to bringing Wahlburgers to the area and seeing the Steelers and Patriots meet in next year’s playoffs.”
At this point the exact locations are not known, but reports are that one will be in the Cranberry area with the other in South Hills.
Wahlburgers offers a variety of upscale burgers with several different sandwich, salad and vegetarian options as well. Some of their side options include Tater Tots, Mac n’ Cheese with Smoked Bacon and Alma’s Classic Macaroni Salad.
“(It’s) kind of like a Five Guys, but way better, I guess is the best way I would describe it,” a recent patron of Wahlburgers claimed.
One major difference about this burger chain is they feature a full-service bar with widescreen TVs and a large selection of wine, beer, and specialty cocktails.
“We offer both full-serve and quick serve options, we have a full bar, it’s a more upscale look than people are used to in the burger category,” Wahlburgers CEO Rick Vanzura said.
