Trip Advisor, one of the world’s largest travel review websites, officially announced their top-10 restaurant list for the year of 2016. Here is the top-10 list for the city of Pittsburgh:
- Istanbul Sofra
- Gaucho Parrilla Argentina
- Capital Grille
- Pamela’s Diner
- Monterey Bay Fish Grotto
- Proper Brick Oven and Tap Room
- Central Diner & Grille
- Fat Head’s South Side Saloon
In total 1,678 restaurants were in contention, so several local favorites were left off the top-10. Just missing the cut were the Grand Concourse, Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh, Church Brew Works and Meat & Potatoes. But all of the aforementioned restaurants received a score of 4/5 or better from the Trip Advisor audience.
Istanbul Sofra, the top voted restaurant, offers a European-based cuisine and is located at 7606 Forbes Ave. One restaurant patron noted that the restaurant has become known for their eggplant dishes, while also offering a BYOB option.
“This a gem of a family run restaurant. Simple but very warm atmosphere and great people. Big on excellent eggplant dishes. This is byob which makes it even better.”
Although the top-10 list is riddled with high-priced restaurants that are the class of the city, one old-fashion diner that offers high-quality food at low prices was able to crack the list.
Pamela’s Diner, rated No.5 in the Trip Advisor rankings, is arguably Pittsburgh’s most famous breakfast spot and it comes at a very affordable cost. As one guest noted, the 21st Street restaurant is a must for everyone visiting the city.
“The breakfast is absolutely delicious specially the crepe style pancakes and the potatoes. There was a line to get in but it moves really fast. Beware that they accept cash only. If in Pittsburgh this place is a must!”
