Straub Brewery, based in St. Marys, Pa., has been a key component of the western Pennsylvania food and beverage scene since its founder, Peter Straub, created the company back in 1878. Throughout the years they’ve become famous for their quality American Lagers that you can find in most bars throughout the state now.
To help celebrate the past and provide the perfect gift for the beer lover in your life, Straub Brewery assembles a holiday gift pack each year that offers a sampler of four fan-favorites from the past – the Straub Legacy Sampler. As you can imagine, it’s quickly become known as a go-to gift for many beer-loving households.
“Straub’s Legacy Sampler is one of our best examples of local handcrafted brewing that combines all that is good about craft beer and the deep traditions and heritage of Straub Brewery,” Straub Brewery President and CEO William Brock said.
This year’s legacy pack contains four different beers from the past – Helles, 1872 Lager, Doppelbock, and Dunkel – and was released in the fall to meet the holiday demand.
The Helles beer (which means “pale” in German) is known for its bitterness and kicks of spices. The 1872 Lager is a classic pre-Prohibition-style lager and is classically known as the perfect combination for a holiday dinner. As you probably guessed, it has been a fan-favorite for many years.
The Doppelbock and the Dunkel are both dark beers that are rich in both flavor and color, and can be described as a Munich-style brew.
This year’s sampler won’t be around forever though, as the company typically restricts it to only one season. If you are interested, head on over to their website for more information on purchasing the infamous sampler.
